My First Scrapbook

Here is the first scrapbook that I ever created. It's of one of my little pugs named Stella Louise. Isn't she just adorable?!?!?!

I started out scrapbooking when I was convinced to go to a Creative Memories crop in 2005, while I was living in Florida ( I say convinced because it was the 5th or 6th time that my friend had asked me to go with her). At that time, I thought 'scrapbooking' sounded too boring for me and I just knew I wouldn't like it. Ha!!! The joke was on me. Little did I know that I was going to fall in love that day.

Right from the start I knew that my style was much different than that of the other girls who attended that crop - which is great. There is no right or wrong style - just YOUR style. I started out by making this scrapbook. I brough the small book and some pictures to Wendy's house and that was it. I ended up buying everything that you see in these pages from Wendy (as she had a supply of lots of goodies there).

From that day forward I was hooked! Nobody was going to get in this girls way of being creative. My style has changed from those first pages, and I now have a basement full of goodies to create with. Most of my supplies are now Close To My Heart supplies, since I can get most of them for free using the money I make off of my sales, but the quality of these supplies are top of the line. I've also learned that scrapbooks tell a great story about who we are, where we've been, and who we're going to become. It's a special thing to be able to have and share with others. Not one person I know can pick up anybody's scrapbook and not smile. This is what we create, when we create scrapbooks.

If you've never thought about scrapbooking, or thought that it sounded 'dumb' like I once did, I encourage you to come over and play sometime. I promise that you won't be sorry, and maybe, just maybe, you'll fall in love, too!

Taggin' It

With the holidays right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about TAGS. Yes, I know this isn't a 'holiday' tag, but it's still can be used a package or gift - and to give you a simple idea. I used only CTMH supplies and embossed the fence and saying in black. Added a couple of cute bitty brads, sanded the textured card stock, stamped a 'YEEHA!' or several in the background, added twill and wallah! It's perfect! You can make a ton of these up in just about 30 minutes!

Add pzazz to your gifts - don't use those ugly store bought tags. Besides, people can take your tag and then use it as a bookmark or add to a scrap page. It is the gift that keeps on giving.

PS - Stay tuned because starting on December 1st, we'll have the 25 Days to Christmas Countdown with projects, prizes and more!!!

I Stole This Idea...

from Erin G. who posted it last month on her blog. Check it out at http://inkysmiles.blogspot.com/2008/10/five-minute-cards.html

This is a wonderfully, fabulous idea and it really only did take a couple of minutes. I bought the card in a kit of 50 from Hobby Lobby tonight, using my 40% discount (10 designs, 5 each design). So that means I only paid $6 for 50 cards and envelopes. I honestly think I'm gonna go back tomorrow and buy up a couple of other different sets. These cards aren't the cheapo, flemsy ones, either. They're actually great quality - just need some jazzin' up. I added a Just Blooms pink bloom, orange button, chocolate waxy flax, some card stock that I trimmed with my scallop edge scissors, a stamped saying, and topped it off with liquid glass dots on the middles of the printed flowers. All supplies are CTMH except the card itself. Talk about EEEEEE-ZZZZZZZ!

So when you're in need of a quick card, think about using some of your embellishments and saying stamp sets. I don't think it looks like I only spent 5 minutes on it - and whomever receives the card will love it!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Tomorrow, November 18th, is my dad's birthday. I whipped up this card for him tonight using the good ol' Originals book that I'm so in love with. This is the 'Upright' design featured on page 34. Really, I'm telling you GET THIS BOOK!!! You WON'T regret it for one minute!

Above is an upclose picture of a dimentional element covered with a cocoa die cut from this months special. At first I wasn't too excited about the die cuts, but let me tell you, I'm so gonna order more for me before the month is through. They're so easy to use and add that extra pazazz to cards and layouts. You can see that I've used 3 of the die cuts (the stars) and one of the chipboard dimentional elements (again, a star). I also used a border stickease from the 'It's a Guy Thing' stickease package, along with 1 edge anchor - broken in 1/2 - 2 brads, a swirly clip, ribbon, another brad, and hemp tied in knots. Of course I used my all time favorite tool, the edge distresser. All supplies are Close To My Heart. And can you believe it - this card was made WITHOUT STAMPING!!! You got that right. No stamping. See - you don't have to be a stamper to make cards. ;)

Below is a picture of the finished card.

When I showed this card to Ray (my boyfriend for those of you who don't know who he is), he said that the card had me written all over it - meaning he could tell that is it was something that I made. That's the great thing about making your own cards for those you love. You can always put a piece of your heart into them.

I love this part of my life. It helps me to focus on what's really important. I'm grateful for the opportunity that CTMH and creativity have provided me.

Your Own Domain thru Blogger/Blogspot

Quick post here for those who have asked questions about getting your own domain. So, here's how to do it.

1. Log onto your blogspot account.
2. Go to the 'settings' link on the blog you'd like the domain name for.
3. Once there, click on the 'publishing' link on the top tab bar.
4. From there you can choose to have your blog link to a website, or still use the 'blogspot.com' link.

On that same page, you can purchase your domain name.

They really are ONLY $10 PER YEAR! Isn't that great!

***The only thing that I had to do once my blog changed, was re-link (aka re-type) in all of the links I had on the right side of my page. So, if you have a ton, please be sure to have copies of these somewhere before changing to your new web address.***

Anybody who goes to your 'old' blogspot account will be redirected to your 'new' web address.

Happy Web Address Shopping!
