Finally - Some NEW Art!

Finally, I'm better! Yay! I still have a bit of sniffles, but hey, I'm able to finally get back down to my studio and finish some things I started a week or so ago.

This first picture is my creation for my company's art show this friday. I still need to get it framed (will do so with a thick, black frame), but you get the idea. I plan to hang this in our front room over the piano. I think it will look good there.

Above is the entire piece. I plucked a dead branch off the tree in our back yard. I then painted a canvas using yellows and creams (you can't really tell from this picutre), and the while it was still wet, I sprinkled a shiny clearish glitter all over the top. I then added paper flowers with brads using liquid glass to the branch (this is after I glued it down to the canvas using Krazy Glue).

Below is an upclose picture for the "Bloom where you're planted" sign that will hang below it. I used Dimintional Elements and spondged them with ink in the same color of flowers I used on the branch. I then stamped 'where you're planted' in topiary ink. Added some brads to a mat, and wahla! My beautiful creation. I hope you like it!

Here are 2 versions of cards I started before I got sick. I finally was able to finish them yesterday. I made 5 of each version for my own stash (or to sell to anybody looking for some cards). I'm using these as birthday cards. I did emboss (of course...I'm an embossing queen) over the PARTY using clear embossing powder - after I had stamped the PARTY with chocolate brown ink. I stamped Happy Birthday in the inside with a star, and all my info on the back. I used blush on the first card and twilight on the 2nd.

AND lastly - here's a sneak peak at one of the cards that will be in my October Thank You card kit - available for purchase starting on October 1st. There will be a set of 4 cards total. Check back on October 1st for all the details.

Okey dokey - that's it for now. Look for other goodies later in the week!

Still Sick...

Hi All...

Can you believe I'm still sick! I went to the Dr. yesterday regarding my dizziness - again. Nothing they can really do for me. I also caught a horrible cold on Monday that isn't helping things out. My nose and eyes keep running (when one side of my head stops, the other starts), and I sound like I have a man voice every now and then. It's no fun.

I was going to post some pics tonight, but Ray stole the camera for bowling (we're on a league - I bowl part time only). Anyway - he's the president and it's picture night tonight. I'm staying home to go to bed.

I will post FOR SURE this weekend - as I must get my art project for work done, as well as my October Card kits ready for folks like you to order come October. I'll also be posting some pug pics this weekend as we're going to the 8th annual Pug's in the Park (City Park - Denver) on Sunday. There should be about 100+ little puggies there. It will be all too cute. Stella and Ginger will LOVE it!

Ok. Enough for now. I've gotta find some kleenex!

This past week...

This past week has been CRAZY! I think it flew by faster than any other week this year so far. There was so much that happened I didn't even have time to create a THING! I've still been sick - even had to miss a day of work (well 1/2 day) because of this weird dizziness thing I've been dealing with for over a month now. I'm back to the Dr. this week to see if there's anything else they can do for me - other than nothing. Yuck. I hate it!

Good news of the week - the guy I work with very closely at my day job (I work for a commercial printer/mailer) - well, he, Brent, welcomed his first baby into his life on Saturday morning! Very exciting news. I'm so happy for him, his wife Audra and their new baby girl, Ava. :)

Anyway, I did create some things yesterday, but they're not quite finished yet. I have a company party to go to today, so I'll post what I've done late tonight. I didn't want you all to think I forgot about you :) Funny thing is, this thing I made is actually for an art show at work that we're doing. I had to talk the organizers of the show into letting me do some mixed media stuff - that way I could use some of my favorite CTMH products with some of my other favorite stuff. I'll show a bit of that later tonight (as I'm not sure I'll have it completely done).

Again - thanks for checking out my blog. I'll be posting more tonight and later this week.

A Bit of Embossing...

Hi Everybody!

I know that this is probably not what you were looking for from me to be posted today, however, I've been sick this weekend and unable to work on anything really fun. So, here are some cards that I have made in the past that use one of my favorite things - EMBOSSING! Yes, I'm a heat gun lover. I admit it.

This first card uses a 'stamp the image in ink, let dry - then stamp it with versa mark, add CLEAR embossing powder and go' technique. I'm sure it has a 'real' name, but this is what I call it. Yes, it's an extra step, but this will save you from having to own a zillion different embossing powder colors. Plus, then you have any color you want. If you're wondering what I embossed, it's the M (for Mom in this case). Of course, this technique works if you use clear stamps. Good luck with it when trying it with rubber.

This next card is done with the Sept. Stamp of the Month. I embossed the dandilion seed thingy (used masking to not stamp the entire stem), added it to some pretty paper with brads, and there you have it. I did not emboss the saying because I wanted the picture to stand out more.

And finally, the last card. This uses the June Stamp of the Month. I LOVE this set! I embossed the flower and the vase. The 'twiggy flowers' are just stamped in black. I think used pop dots and put them behind the vase and the flower. I also stamped the flower image in a grey on the paper behind to tie it all in (you can't really see it in this picture, but it's there). Added some ribbon and Wala! It's a beauty!
I hope you've enjoyed these simple, yet elegantly embossed cards. Embossing adds that 'extra pop' to a card that many need. So try it! You're gonna love it!

My Beautifully, Creative Mess!

Hi Everybody!

I've been busy creating a few things. This is what happens to my desk when I create. I have stuff EVERYWHERE!!! :)

Stay tuned for this weekend (like Sunday evening). I'll be posting some of the projects I've been working on that have caused this lovely mess. Some of those projects include my almost finished baby book for a friend I work with (their baby is almost here, so I'd best finish it soon) and a few other 'altered' projects.

WHO ever thought paper, stamps, little metal things and double sided tape could be so much fun?!?!?

On a more serious/personal note, please remember to take to time tell those you love, that you love them. Think of the special people in your life, who have come and gone for one reason or another, and hold them near you and in your hearts. Today is the day to remember. Please take time do to so.

As always - Happy Scrampin'!

Last Weekend's Success!!!

Hey there Everybody!!!

Sorry for my late post. I was hoping to post yesterday, but I was in the lazy mood after this weekend festivities - with the Idea Book reveal and all. Anyways, I've had nothing but positive feedback on the new book. I do have to say it is my favorite one yet! So far I've sold $550 in new stuff, but am still waiting on an additional 5 orders. Yippee!!! I love the everybody else loves CTMH as much as me!!!

Here are some close up pictures of the cards we did. Of course, I have a bunch of creative gals who come over, so not everybody's cards looked like these. But here are the samples and the template for the bags. Again, if you want to see and or get the templates for the cards - call, email, post or log onto my CTMH website and order your copy of the Originals Card Confidence Program today! The item number is 9032 and it's only $29.95 (plus tax/shipping). I sold 2 this weekend!!!
Here's the bag up close...

And here is the bag template. I used 6" ribbon for each handle.

Here's card #1. This is the SUNSET layout. We used a DIMINTIONAL ELEMENT letter and covered it with paper. Then used CTMHs new FILING TOOLS....Yay!!! These are great. You've gotta get yourself a set.

Here's card #2. We used the CENTER VIEW layout for this one. We also used the beautiful September Stamp of the Month - Treasure Life. Ask me how you can get this stamp set for FREE!!!

Here's card #3. This is the DOUBLE DUTY layout. Don't you just love the cute little flower? The Friendship Word Puzzle is also one of my favorites.

And last, but not least, this card was made using the BOW FRONT layout. I also used one of the new Connection Club Tokens on the front. Each one of the attendees of each class received a set of these.

If you were able to come to one of the 3 classes, thanks so much! I hope you enjoy your cards! And if you're just here checking out what's new, thanks to you, too! I'm glad you're here. Please add my blog to your list of favorites and check back often. I'll be posting at least 3 times a week!

Have a great and creative week!

Happy Scramping!

Sneak Peak

Here's a quick post before I go off to work. I have my first Fall/Winter Idea Book reveal tonight - and 2 more tomorrow. Here's a picture of what we're doing...

4 - 3.5" x 2.5" Cards and 1 matching little baggy. I'll post close ups and results a bit later this weekend. All are made from CTMH products using the Perfect Day pack, September Stamp of the Month, the Happy Birthday set, and Friendship word puzzle. We're also using some new product with the sanding files (for the dimintional elements letter). Oh, and of course, the cute little metal connections club tokens. Bulk ribbon, new ink colors, edge distresser, edge anchors, flowers, brads, embossing, envelope flats and I think that's it. All of the cards are made using instructions from the new Originals book. :)
Again, I'll post close ups and the bag template later this weekend.
Hope you all enjoy!

Allison's Birthday Card

Hey there folks. I wanted to share something that I made a couple of weeks ago using a template from the newest book in Close To My Hearts selection - the Originals Card Confidence book. Since it's now available for purchase (click title of this post to shop), I thought it would be great to share some work for it. I'll share even more later this week.

I made this card for Ray's daughter Allison. It was her 16th birthday a few weeks ago. I modified the inside to make it a CD holder. Ray made an awesome mini movie for her that contained pictures of her life up to this point. It made me cry the first couple of times when I watched it and made Allison tear up as well. Very sweet and wonderful for a great girl. Anyway, we put the CD right inside of the card.
I've used all CTMH product here. Colors are Hollyhock, sweet leaf and white. Below are pics of the inside and the August SOTM with a swirly clip around her actual birthday (the 12th). I embossed the stamps in white to make it really 'pop' of the hollyhock cardstock.
